Keep your body biologically fed with adequate energy and carbohydrates. If you allow even one small hope to linger that a new and better diet might be lurking around the corner, it will prevent you from being free to rediscover Intuitive Eating. Get angry at the lies that have led you to feel as if you were a failure every time a new diet stopped working and you gained back all of the weight. Throw out the diet books and magazine articles that offer you false hope of losing weight quickly, easily, and permanently. Now, scientists are validating our work through studies, which show that Intuitive Eating is not only a healthy way to live, it appears effective in the treatment of binge eating disorder. When Elyse and I wrote Intuitive Eating, we created these principles based on existing research and experiences with our clients. And ultimately, you become the “expert of you”. Rather they are guidelines, to help you create a healthy relationship with food, mind and body. There are 10 core principles of Intuitive Eating, but they are not rigid rules.
